Is there anything in the Celtic doctrine of rebirth that mentions the
rebirth of a faery into human form? Did I read that somewhere, or
does it come from an inner knowing? From what I remember, there are
accounts of the faeries as living a long time, rather than being
immortal. But then I suppose one could question whether saying
"birth" is even an appropriate term with the faery race.

Re: fey rebirth
Sat, January 3, 2009 - 7:28 AMHmmmm......absolute statements about the Fey........;-)
In my research and in my interactions with the Spirits of the Forest I have found no crossover between Human and Fey. I have encountered several people who are more sensitive to them, but that is just awareness, not shared DNA. The little critters are more quantum than substance - they travel between realms, dimensions and awareness. They've got their own agendas and we are only an occasional fancy on their paths.
IMHO. -

Re: fey rebirth
Sat, January 3, 2009 - 9:05 AMMy daughter sees them and she has that untouchable way about her, I cannot explain it, that fey that mystic ''shimmer'' aura, halo.
I don t know what to call her. I always kind of laughingly told her she was a gift from the Faery King.
ANd actually the more I learn about their ways, I am starting to have my doubts, not that I remember being with anybody else but her father...but you never know...she has that what the french call...je ne sais quoi????
Is she a cross breed I dont know, she is a smart, incredible smart child, her birth was magical and almost a medical mistery for it was totally painless, except for the eight drops of phitosin I was given to actually feel contractions, since the contractions registered on the monitor but I didn t feel them.
I dont know what to think, she is my child and I adore her. -

Re: fey rebirth
Sun, January 4, 2009 - 12:46 PMOK, I did find the passage in the last chapter of The Fairy Faith in
Celtic Countries by Evans-Wentz that prompted my question. Here it is:
"To the Celtic mystic, the universe is divisible into two
interpenetrating parts or aspects: the visible in which we are now,
and the invisible which is Fairyland or the Otherworld; and a fairy is
an intelligent being, either embodied as a member of the human race or
else resident in the Otherworld." -

Re: fey rebirth
Mon, January 5, 2009 - 7:49 PMI am studying 'Faery Seership' with Orion Foxwood and I asked him this question myself.(bein a bit 'fey' myself and irish) and he said as Angus did-"You can be close and 'alligned and allied' with the Folk, but there is no crossing over-they live in another realm, it is not possible".
He is but one sorce, doesn't hurt to dig deeper...
I take no ones word for law, but for now, it is all I know :-/

Re: fey rebirth
Wed, January 7, 2009 - 7:09 AMi dream of living as a faery.
or finding some in ireland, one day.
angus, do you think of fairies as earth spirits, or distinctively fey as we read about in stories and see in froud? -

Re: fey rebirth
Wed, January 7, 2009 - 10:28 AMGood distinctions, Ascendant.
I see them - literally - as all sorts of things. Sometimes all sorts of things overlapping each other, which is hard on the brain. Remember that we are talking about energies that do make big distinctions between this plane and many others. Their not shapeshifters as much as SLIDERS, able to move freely across several dimensions and exist on multiple levels simultaneously.
Earth Spirits? Nothing quite that encompassing. I've seen some enormous entities, and some of these were not quite fully formed. Imagine Sentient Jell-O the size of a Stonehenge sarsen stone. But the Fey are micro much more than macro. Other spirits and consciousnesses work on the larger stage of the planet and it's various systems.
I've seen the Froud variety of faery too, and actual cliche leprechauns with little green jackets, bowler hats, and long shire pipes. But I think that is less Truth and more context. I think the Fey find it amusing to dress themselves up in the manner that we are expecting to find them. Or maybe fairies read Froud too. 'Wouldn't put it past them.
In general though the variety that I hang with are the ones that feed off of - and are made up of - the distinct energies of individual plants, stands, hillsides, copses and areas of the wild areas (Look BELOW ground too, for that is where the real soul of a plant is). Locals, in short, albeit of the transdimensional slider variety.
They sometimes enjoy showing themselves to us, playing with our minds and stealing our rucksacks. But for the most part they are busy with the awesome energy of the plant kingdom.
Hope this helps.
